As January settles upon us, it is time to reflect and come up with a new word as my mantra for 2026.  I decided that my word for this year is CELEBRATE.

When one thinks of the word CELEBRATE, one usually thinks of party time and fun!  It definitely is that, but it can be so much more.  I chose this word because in 2026 there is a lot going on in our lives and reasons to CELEBRATE: big birthdays for Mark and me and our kids, a graduation and a confirmation come to mind.  Also a big birthday that our country will be celebrating!  But there’s so much more that I need to celebrate.  Every day that we open our eyes is a reason to celebrate.  Being healthy is a reason to celebrate.  Having the ability to travel is a reason to celebrate.  Being with our family is a reason to celebrate.  It goes on and on…….  

In 2026, I plan on celebrating one thing every day.  With all the traveling we did this past year we were able to see  the difficult lives that so many people endure daily.  It made me see that even though life isn’t always perfect, there is some good that can be found and that is what I want to celebrate.

It is the middle of January and I want to celebrate some important events that have happened so far!

First off, we celebrated a NEW YEAR!  Lucky us to be around to look forward to what 2026 brings us!

Second, Mark had a BIG BIRTHDAY!  Happy 75th, Mark - I love you!

Third, our daughter, Emily, turned the big 50!  That’s a hard one to believe!  It was hard for her too, especially on that day when she opened her AARP card!

And Fourth, our son-in-law Mark will also be turning 50 next week!
