ODE TO ZOE
September already and I am blogging again! Before I start blogging about my current life, I have to go in the past a bit. There were a couple happenings during the summer that I want to write about. First and foremost is an ode to our beloved pet, ZOE. We had to put her to sleep in late June. Zoe was 15 years old and gave us much joy! We got her as a puppy from a breeder in California that specialized in Australian Labradoodles. Zoe actually arrived to us via plane from California. We went to O’Hare to claim that sweet puppy. We didn’t even know that a pet could fly unaccompanied.
Zoe was a pretty little doggie and so smart. We would watch her figuring things out like learning to open doors, go around a chair or something to free herself if her leash was tangled (we used the term “go around” and she did!), and learning how to manipulate us to give her unearned treats!
Zoe loved going on boat rides, car rides, long walks, playing with other dogs and going to the beach and being off her leash. She also loved her naps! She was a great big sister to Tessa.
At the end of her time on earth, Zoe had hip issues and struggled to walk. We knew the time was near when she fell off the couch and hurt her back. She really struggled using her hind legs after that. We weren’t sure if she was in pain because no matter what she tried to please, but her quality of life was poor. Finally, we made the difficult decision to let her go and enjoy her time over the rainbow.
We miss our little buddy!

Such a sweet girl and great companion for Tessa and her cousins Lexi and Tess! Have tons of fun on your new voyage Barb and Mark! See you soon in San Diego??
