FINDING ART ON SICK SEA DAYS

ART can be found everywhere!

I have always heard that cruise ships are notorious for harboring illnesses.  I’ve been on many cruises and have never gotten sick, until now!  Ugh!  I heard a LOT of coughing a couple days ago at one of the lectures that we attended.  Two days later, I started coughing and that has developed into a BIG head cold. I’m paranoid about spreading a virus so I have made a point to keep to myself, either in my stateroom or a just quiet spot away from other people.  I have missed two excursions in the last few days.  Rotorua and Wellington didn’t happen for me, although Mark was kind and walked with me to the beach in Rotorua.  Fresh beach air was good for my soul and cough!

I must admit that being pretty much alone on a cruise ship isn’t that bad!  As I perused the hallways, corridors and lounges, I discovered art and design in unexpected places.  My first realization of this was in the above photo of the pillows on the settee in the Winter Garden.  I’m enamored at the colors and perfect alignment.  That’s a form of ART in my opinion!

WINTER GARDEN.  I love that name and have been pondering that word.  I live in South Carolina and we have an indoor/outdoor room that we call our “Carolina Room”.  In Florida these rooms are called “Florida Rooms” or “Lanai”.  I believe they are called a “Lanai” in California too and “Sunrooms” up north and in the midwest.  WINTER GARDEN.  I think if I still lived in Michigan, I would definitely call our former “sun room” a Winter Garden!

These are definitely random thoughts that have occurred to me while enjoying my quiet sick days! Remember that I said it is a “head” cold - I’m definitely sick in the head!  Ha!

Speaking or ART and WINTER GARDEN:  Today our wonderful culinary team hosted a Brunch for us in the Winter Garden.  DELICIOUS FOOD ART!  Enjoy - we sure did!

AMAZING!!!

  2. Hope you get feeling better soon! I got a terrible cold during our cruise in 2023 to Iceland and Greenland. You are smart to just hang behind and rest up. Usually it takes rest to get over these things. It seems like everyone back here is or has been fighting these lousy colds/viruses!
