IT’S A BLUR

Our final day on this amazing journey started at 6 am as we left the Viking Sky and boarded a coach en route to Heathrow airport.  We actually had a tour guide on the coach with us and pointed out sites in London as we made our way through the city.  This was a nice touch in my opinion!  We arrived at the airport with our five large cases in tow, checked in, went through security and boarded our flight - all seamlessly!  Business Class was included with our cruise package and we certainly enjoyed that! We watched three movies and napped.  Since this flight originated in London, we even had “Tea Time” complete with little tea sandwiches and scones.  Nice!  We had a layover in Atlanta and then took our final leg home via Savannah.

I snapped this photo as our plane was getting ready to land in Savannah.  As I was watching out the window, realizing that our fabulous journey was indeed ending, I was overcome with emotion and decided to document one last shot!  Imagine how upset I was when I looked at my photos and realized that I didn’t get the photo I wanted.  Then I realized that this WAS the photo that I really did want - BLURRY - just as the trip feels to me now!

We are home now and have been spending lots of time pondering our trip.  Have been asked many times what our favorite part of the trip was, and that is such a difficult question!  It’s all a BLUR!  We did so many different and unique things and they all just seem to run together…..

Anyway to answer the question as to what our favorite thing was - all of it!  We loved vibrant, beautiful cities of Sydney, Singapore, Capetown and London as well as the smaller quaint towns of Napier, Cadiz, Vigo and Porto.  We were also mesmerized by the poorer cities like Mombasa and Andoany in Nosy Be.  The poverty was unsettling, but the happiness and proudness that the locals exhibited charmed us.

We enjoyed the lectures and learning opportunities that were provided, giving us an opportunity to get immersed in the everyday lives of the people in the places we visited.  This was a bit unexpected to us.  When we saw the itinerary of the cruise we envisioned all the ports to be places of beauty, resorts, the very best places in that particular area.  Nope, we visited the places where we could look at everyday life.  For this Viking gets an A+.

The fabulous food, often a sampling of the environment we were currently experiencing was well done.  The Viking crew enveloped us and provided kindness and friendship.  Speaking of friendship - we loved the many people we met on board - many becoming life long friends……

Those are all the things we loved about this trip.  So, with all that being said, there isn’t one place or thing that is our favorite, it’s all blurred together!

Not sure if this is my last post about this trip or not.  Things may come to mind that I want to share and keep in this “so called” journal.  In the meantime, I will be posting about my life in general: family, other trips, gardens and dollhouses.  Stay Tuned! Oh, and one more photo.  My #7 Door!  It’s good to be home……
