A CORUÑA, SPAIN

We are still in Spain!  We ported in A Coruna, Spain at 8:00 am and were at this port until 5:00 pm.  Just enough time to get a quick overview.  For me, it was definitely a quick one!

Here’s what the  Viking Daily said about this port city:

“The stunning Atlantic setting of A Coruna lends this historic city a wide-open feel that is unique in Spain.  Its Hercules Tower, a Roman-era lighthouse, has been in continuous operation since its construction in the 2nd century.  The coastal San Anton Castle once defended the north of Spain from intruders coming in by sea.  The city is known for the historic row of houses along Avenida de la Marina; these Galician 19th-century buildings are all fronted by unique, white glazed glass balconies that, viewed side by side, form a massive wall of white.  The city’s pretty, bicycle-friendly promenade leads to the modern glass Millennium Obelisk monument, a state-of-the-art aquarium and the splendid sands of Orzan Beach.”

We did the included tour called “A Coruna & the Old Town.”  It was basically a coach panoramic tour around the city.  I took a few pictures.

The End!  (Ha!)

Our ship in the port and views from our coach.

More coach views.

We walked around Old Town. City Square with Government Buildings and a monument.
